CWR5513-003

CWR5513-003 was crafted from a Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513, circa 1965.

After this watch’s owner provided it to Cloister to be reimagined, we completed a full mechanical overhaul of this Rolex Ref. 5513 Submariner’s movement. We then began by matching the color of the stainless steel case and rendering the dial using a “sunburst” paint finish common to Rolex design of the era and today. The original circular hour markers were removed and replaced with four large, geometric painted indices rendered in black. We also removed the majority of the dial’s text, retaining only the Rolex lettering and painted crown on the upper portion of the dial. We hand-polished the original aluminum bezel of the watch until the raw metal shone through the original black paint. After replacing the dial’s lower text with the new owner’s initials printed in large-format font, we fitted the watch with a later Oyster Link Submariner bracelet (circa 1990) with flip-lock clasp, and hand-engraved the Cloister Mark onto the watch’s caseback.
