CWR1600-001 is the first Cloister Project ever completed. Crafted from a Rolex Ref. 1600 Datejust, circa 1963, reimagining this piece was an exercise in the art of the possible as well as the basis for all future Cloister bespoke projects.

After mixing the color that now adorns this piece using a physical palette and oil paints, we removed the traditional “cyclops” Rolex magnifying lens over the date window by hand-polishing the acrylic crystal, fabricated a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback, and rendered all accenting text in black, retaining the original calendar disc. We then restored the original Rolex “Jubilee” bracelet and re-fitted it to the watch.
